Top Ten Tuesday: Back to School || “Required Reading” I Loved

When I saw this was “Back to School”-themed I thought, 😮 I haven’t been in school in forever! (And by forever, I really been 5 years because that’s when I graduated college.) I do work for a school district (<3) so occasionally, I get to visit schools but not often.

I thought a really fun idea would be to pick books that were considered “required reading” in English classes, and pick the ones I really enjoyed. I think I can remember that far back… XD

Top Ten Tuesday topics are provided by The Broke and the Bookish. Don’t forget to leave your TTT and I’ll check it out! 🙂

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Because I have been in such a book slump lately, I don’t have a review to post. 😦

But I can tell you what I’m reading. I’ve been looking for ways to post more and I came across this website which has a master list of book blogging-related memes. I thought it’d be nice to jazz up my blog a bit more, outside of just reviews and stuff, although I do love writing those too. 🙂

I chose the first meme for Monday, where you talk about the book you’re currently reading. That’s always fun, right? Right. Continue reading

Review: “An Ember in the Ashes” by Sabaa Tahir

GUYS. Why did I wait so long to read this book? I should really stop doing that. This was one of those hyped books that I kept seeing. I bought it a few months ago but I never read. SHAME. ON. ME.

Because this book is fan-freakin’-tastic. I loved it. Every single page. I couldn’t get enough. Look, I’m an old lady when it comes to sleeping but THIS BOOK KEPT ME UP. I had to tear my eyes away from the page to sleep. But now I’m almost glad I waited a bit because A Torch Against the Night comes out next week! I can’t wait!

Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Books on My Shelf for Forever & Still Haven’t Read…

know I’m not the only one guilty of this. I mean, I bought 4 books this past month and still haven’t read them. XD I’m buying more books as we speak… But that’s not what this is about!

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish and the topic title is really long… “Ten Books That Have Been On Your Shelf (Or TBR) From Before You Started Blogging That You STILL Haven’t Read Yet” lol I tried to shorten it but… Well, leave me your TTT and I’ll be sure to check it out! 🙂

How’s Your (August) TBR?

Normally, I am extremely prepared and ready to go when it comes to posting on my blog but this weekend, I was hit with PMS and seriously, I was down for the count! I was rather productive on Saturday morning but then it started so all I did was lay in bed (or the couch), read, edit my book a bit, and then I also ended up skipping church on Sunday to…lay in bed and read. ^_^’

So you’d think I would be going a great job, getting through my TBR for August. Alas, that is not the case. I skimmed through Netgalley a few weeks ago and “wished” for a book, was approved, and so I started reading it to end up not even finishing it (or liking it). That took up a few days. Then I have an author friend who wants me to take a look at the sequel to her first book but I need to read the 1st book, so I’ve been going back and forth with that and An Ember in the Ashes.

But I have some exciting news!

Non-bookish Post #4: That time I went camping…

A little over a month ago, I posted about summer vacation finally arrving. My plans included reading many books on my TBR (check!), go camping (check!), and finish the first draft of my book (check!).

Since I DNF a book earlier this week (read my review on Goodreads here), I don’t have a decent book review to post so a non-bookish post about my life is always a good substitute… I hope you don’t mind. 😉 Continue reading

Review: “The Heart of Betrayal” by Mary E. Pearson

Initially, I planned to read this book back in April when Mary was at the North Texas Teen Book Festival. I wanted to get her books signed as well, but unfortunately, that never happened. By the time I finished getting multiple books signed by multiple authors, there wasn’t enough time to have Mary sign these books. Sad day!

However, I finally got to read the book, and I’m glad that I waited until after the third and final book was released. The cliffhanger at the end of this book was ridiculously. Now I’m going to try to breeze through my August TBR (haha) so I can read The Beauty of Darkness.

Spoiler-free review like always! 🙂 Continue reading

ARC Review: “Second Twin” by Jaime Lee Mann

I have graciously been given the opportunity to read this entire series. I requested the first book on Netgalley and was then contacted and given the rest of the series. The fourth book in the Legend of Rhyme series was offered to me a couple months ago but with work being crazy, me being constantly tired, and having 5782472 other books on my shelf to read, it took me a lot longer to get to this book than I anticipated.

Regardless it is an excellent book in the series, and I am continually excited to read this series. Thank to Blue Moon Publishers for giving me a free digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
