Ah! I really, really, really enjoyed this.
Susan, Esther, and Daisy are roommates in college who eventually blossom into friends, though there are still things about each other they don’t know. While they try to finagle university life along with life in general, they’ll soon discover things might just become a little strange.
Title: Giant Days, Vol. 1
Author(s): John Allison (Author), Lissa Treiman , Whitney Cogar
My rating: 5/5 stars
I loved all of these characters! The girls are fabulous, and I can’t wait to see how their friendship grows as their life through university continues. I found myself relating to Daisy and her introvert ways (What club? Book club?), Esther and her feminist views, and Susan’s awkward past with a boy.
What’s great about this is that these are every day girls. They’re you and me, and with all that, they struggle with having enough money for college, being catcalled, jealously, how to make it through university when you’re so sick you think you might be dying, and most of all, with humor. There are so many laughable moments in this books, especially when Daisy and Esther beg for flashbacks about Susan’s life before university and her relationship with McGraw.
I shouldn’t be surprised how much I loved this since BOOM! Box also makes one of my other favorite comics, Lumberjanes! I already have the next volume in this series and look forward to reading it. 🙂
