Non-bookish Post #6: NaNoWriMo Update & Things

I felt so accomplished this past week because I wrote and scheduled a bunch of blog posts. I reached 50k words for November’s NaNoWriMo, and I’m finally receiving some feedback from my beta readers about my book! It’s so thrilling and makes me all giddy inside when people tell me they love my story even though it’s in its baby stage.

Thanksgiving came and went, and now Christmas is slowly creeping up on us which also means a new year! Oh heavens, how did that all happen so quickly?

Right, so I amazingly (but barely) hit the 50k word mark for this year’s NaNoWriMo! I thought I wasn’t going to make it but I did, and it was seriously a miracle. I got ahead really early to compensate for the fact that I knew I wasn’t going to spend time or even have energy to write every day. However, close to the end of the month, it wasn’t looking so good!

There were days I didn’t write at all. Shame on me, I know, but I spent Thanksgiving with my family and I spent about 3 days in a row not writing anything. Then there were days I didn’t write the average amount; I only managed a couple hundred but I kept telling myself that some words were better than no words. (It worked because I didn’t get my hopes down.)

Yet when the last few days came around, I panicked! I was 11k away from finishing! I spent an hour or so writing a thousand or so and then wrote for a whole day off and on and managed to write a spectacular 6k words! (Okay, it’s spectacular to me. 😛 ) Those big word counts and nightly sprints really helped me finish!

(See? I barely made it. XD)

So in terms of writing goals for the next few months, I’m waiting on more feedback from my beta readers. Hopefully, I’ll have all the feedback by the beginning of next month so I can work on a hard edit and polish it up… My goal is to send queries to agents next year! Ahhhhhh. 😮 That’s such a scary and intimidating sentence to even write! But look out, world, I’m coming for you! Haha.

Right onto other things… The weather’s getting colder. Days are shorter, which unfortunately means not a lot of daylight to take pictures for my bookstagram so I try to dedicate some time on the weekends in the afternoon when it’s not overcast to take some good pictures for the entire week. It’s been semi-successful so far. XD

Oh, I also forget to mention that Husband snagged a Playstation 4 on Black Friday and then a few days later, Final Fantasy XV released and I’ve really been playing that a lot in my spare time, too. Of course, it means less time for reading but I’m way ahead of my Goodreads goal. Anyways, the game is amazing. Like AMAZING. Graphics are on point and just keep getting better which each game!

Final Fantasy is an amazing franchise. I remember loving FFX a lot too but X-2 was a bit of a flop for me and so I never  kept up after that. FFIV was an RPGMMO, if I remember correctly, and it cost $ which I wasn’t willing to fork over. Then the internet exploded over FFXV and the upcoming remake of FFVII (which releases next year).

Right. So. In terms of books, I’m currently reading Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill. (I managed to get a digital ARC–yay!) and listening to Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor via audiobook. The narrator for DoSaB is really good so I’m thoroughly enjoying that book, and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about the series. Taylor’s also coming out with a new series next year. The first book is called Strange the Dreamer.

I’ve also got 3 Christmas parties to go to this week so… yay! Which also reminds me that I made this pretty wreath last weekend. *_*

I’ve never made one before though I see them all the time on Pinterest. This was super easy to make too! I even made the bow too! It looked so fancy but step-by-step instructions via Pinterest made it super easy to do! Yay! And yay, Christmas! Haha!

All right. I think I’ve blabbed enough. Hope it wasn’t too boring! 😀

Well done! Yes, sending work out into the world is a really scary thing, and even if it doesn’t work out, be proud of yourself of taking that step! That is more than many even dream of doing one day! And I’m in awe of your christmas wreath… NaNoWriMo didn’t exactly help me get in gear with cheistmas preparations… Good luck with your novel!

Congrats on winning NaNo! The wreath looks beautiful, as well. I love the rustic feel of the bare twigs with the bow 🙂

I bought FFXV for my bf recently and it’s been so much fun watching him play. It looks like a wicked game! I haven’t got the energy for gaming these past few months 😦 not even Sims or Guild Wars 2 haha. Happy holidays!

P.S. Can’t wait til you release your novel! Best of luck with the entire process!
