T5W: Books I’ve Read Because of #bookstagram

I’ve always been an avid reader, but I wasn’t much of a collector. That is, until I joined the lovely community of readers on Instagram (also commonly referred to as #bookstagram and #bookstagrammers). I joined over 2 years ago, and wow, it’s been a great way to connect with other readers and to see how seriously talented photographers fellow bibliophiles are!

Anyway, I thought this was a fun topic because there are so many books I’ve picked up since I’ve seen them on Instagram–definitely some I would have never bothered to read otherwise!

T5W is a Goodreads group. You can check out the topics or join here.

Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas || I probably wouldn’t have picked this book up sooner than I did it weren’t for Bookstagram. When I was fully engrossed in this series, I believe Queen of Shadows had just released. So that’s–what, over 2 years ago? Anyway, I’m glad that I did. This is a fantastic series, and as the series progresses it screams, Girls are gonna rule this world! and I’m seriously down with that.

An Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir || AEitA was one of those books that I picked up repeatedly while at the library or the bookstore, but never bothered to actually read. It wasn’t until I saw it for $9 at a used bookstore (and multiple times on IG) that I finally picked it up. I definitely do not have any regrets about it. This is another one of my favorite series! I have so many feelings about book 1, and I don’t even know how I’m going to survive A Reaper at the Gates. (I have until April 2018 to emotionally prepare myself so…yay?) Of course I’m crossing my fingers for my babes Elias and Laia. I’m rooting for Helene, too, but only that she sees how crazy everyone else is. Haha.

Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi || I’m just gonna sit here and admire how lovely these three books look together. ❤ This is another series that gets better as it progresses. Ignite Me is my favorite of the series (so far! Restore Me, the 4th book, is set to release sometime next year) and Juliette has such a great character arc. Her transformation from timid to fierce is admirable. Also, hello, Warner! I’m ready for all the steamy scenes!

The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo || Yessssss. I would have never known about the amazingness of Leigh Bardugo if it weren’t for IG! Thank goodness I picked up Shadow and Bone, too! Because it led me right to the Six of Crows duology which is one of my all-time favorites! While these three books are good and are a great introduction to the Grisha world, I definitely think Leigh’s writing shines in her duology. However, we meet the Darkling and Nikolai. Can you resist? 😉

Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown || I will forever sing the praises of this trilogy. It is seriously one of my favorite (am I saying this too much now?) sci-fi trilogies, which I tell my husband that it’s like Braveheart…but in space! LOL Also, ALL OF THE FEELS. This series is ruthless and just so bloody damn fantastic. I’m so excited for Iron Gold in January 2018. (Pierce also recently announced his book tour for Iron Gold. I’m so sad it’s nowhere near me. 😦 But it looks and will definitely be awesome!)

Okay…so yes, this was more than 5 books, but it’s 5 series so… That still counts, right?! Hehe.

I am so happy I found The Red Rising trilogy as it is probably one of my most favourite series ever!

I also enjoyed The Grisha Trilogy, but I am more excited about the new Nikolai book coming out in 2019 (why so far away?!?!?!)
