October Book Haul & Wrap-up!

Another month down! I can’t believe it. Only two more months until the new year! How did that happen?! I’m always amazed at how quickly yet sometimes slowly the months go by, haha.

In terms of books, this month was fairly good. I was on a book buying ban because of Oklahoma Teen Book Con a few weeks ago. (I write a post about that soon, I promise.) A local bookstore partnered with the con, so I bought all the books at full price (which I normally don’t do). Along with just trying to be more financially aware, I didn’t buy as many books as I usually would. The library has always been my dearest friend, but now it’s even more so, haha.

Giant Days, Vols 3, 4, 5 by John Allison – ★★★★★
Invictus (ARC) by Ryan Graudin – ★★★
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas – ★★★★ 1/2
The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson – ★★★ 1/2
The Color Project by Sierra Abrams – ★★★
The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli – ★★★★
Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson – ★★★
The Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May – ★★★★
Looking for Group by Rory Harrison – ★★

Not too bad, if I do say so myself. Though I’ll admit that Giant Days and Invictus were ones I finished right on October 1… But it sort of still counts, right? lol A few of my most disappointing reads were The Color Project and Looking for Group. The Upside of Unrequited was absolutely adorable, and Tower of Dawn blew me away!

Now to this month’s book haul!

After reading The Upside of Unrequited, I found it and Dark Breaks the Dawn for $9 each. I couldn’t pass it up. What to Say Next, Invictus, and All the Crooked Saints I bought at Oklahoma Teen Book Con so I could have them signed. 🙂 Epic Reads also had a booth at the con, and they were giving away copies of Calling My Names and Three Sides of a Heart. I gladly added them to this pile. 🙂

I do have my eyes on a few books in November (like the Target edition of Renegades by Marissa Meyer!), but I don’t know if I’ll buy any. My husband’s car actually died a few weeks ago, so we’ve been looking around for a new one. Meaning we’ll have another car payment so… Yeah. Anyway, I won’t bore you with that! Dealing with cars is one of the worst thing about being an adult.

How was your reading month? I think November will be fairly slow for me. Blogging and bookstagram isn’t really a priority for me that much anymore. But rather than quit altogether, I won’t post as frequently.
