Top 5 Wednesday: Authors I Want to Write Like

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly blog meme started on Goodreads. You can check out the group and keep an eye out for the topics here.

I find this topic broad and very subjective, obviously, so I figure I’d take a look at some of my favorite authors in a variety of genres and discuss why I like them and what I admire about them, not just their writing skills. Let’s see how this goes. 😉

I’ve always been a fantasy buff. I read it and I write it as well, so of course, how could I note include a variety of some of my favorite fantasy authors?

Each and every one of these books made me cry. The writing is lush, beautiful, poetic at times, and the characters–oh my word! Some of my favorite characters of all time are from these books as well!

When I think contemporary YA novels, I think of a genre that I have grown to love over the past year or so. I think the amazing characters who go through a lot throughout the course of a novel, while struggling internally and externally. Of course, that’s what makes great characters in all genres!

Heart-wrenching contemporary YA books! Gah!

Here’s a genre I wasn’t sure I would ever love again: paranormal! These books may straddle the line, but talk about amazing, captivating writing and world-building!

I’m the type of person who buys books due to the “hype” but letting them sit on my shelves for a while. But I’ve also become the person who adds a book to their TBR list due to the hype but then just check it out from the library. I’ve been jaded by hyped books before, so I’m wary! However, these books have all been phenomenal, and if I had just an inkling of their talent, maybe I wouldn’t feel so dull about my own. 😜

I’d LOVE to see your list! Feel free to drop your link below!
