Well, I was slightly underwhelmed after I finished this reading this. I think I expected a lot more, and it wasn’t delivered. This book also lacked a lot of things I generally like in a book. I’m not saying it was horrible, but it wasn’t what I expected.
Hello, all! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas (if you celebrate) and a very happy holidays! I skipped posting a blog on Christmas Day for obvious reasons, but I’m back on schedule with a delightful post featuring some of the books I’m looking forward to in 2018! (I still can’t believe we’re only 4 days away from the new year!

I almost think I’ve come to a point where I just rate this book highly because it’s everything I could ever want in a historical fiction and then some. 😂 Set in Victorian England, following an independent and strong-willed woman while she sleuths with a handsome and devilish man. It’s quite perfect, really, and while mysterious aren’t my usual genre, I can’t stay away from these books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for giving me a free digital copy in exchange for an honest review!
I’m on my first day of a two week Christmas vacation, and I could not be more excited! I’m spending it with my lovely BFF (Calye–go give her a follow!) and we’re making gingerbread houses and working on our own WIPs. 🙂 And I am especially excited to talk about this week’s WoW post because… Well, I just can’t wait for it to release!
If you’re in the YA book community, and haven’t heard of this book, I’d be surprised! I actually pre-ordered this book when it released back in January and it sat on my shelf until… Well, technically it still sat on my shelf because I listened to this via audiobook. HAHA! 😂
Anywho, I heard mixed reviews about it, and considering this book is very hyped, I went into it with trepidation. But I’m glad to say that I did enjoy it, though I did have a few problems with it.
I think I’ve done something fairly similar… Or maybe when I see this topic, all I can think about are villains? (I did make a Top 10 Tuesday post about villains a while back…) But I supposed this list could focus on general crappy characters, not necessarily villains.
So let’s do this!

I don’t know if I just picked up the wrong anthology, but this definitely wasn’t the book for me. Truthfully, I was actually very excited for it because it had some authors whose books I enjoyed, so I thought it would be great to see else they wrote outside of what they were known for, especially since this is an anthology of short stories.
Boy, was this not at all what I expected.
What a wild and heart-pounding ride! This is one of those books I’ve heard so much about; it was so hyped that I was afraid I wouldn’t like it as I’ve been disappointed by a variety of hyped books. But I can say with a smile on my face that this book was fantastic!
How is it already December?! Seriously, someone answer this for me. That just means Christmas is only weeks away, and so is 2018! It’s crazy how slow yet how quickly the days go by. I didn’t know if I’d ever get here!
Anyway, though I was supposed to be on a book buying ban due to the holidays, November is the torturous month where there are a lot of holiday sales and coupons. I also traded books and that’s why this month’s haul looks so huge.
Let’s start with a recap though…
