I’m on my first day of a two week Christmas vacation, and I could not be more excited! I’m spending it with my lovely BFF (Calye–go give her a follow!) and we’re making gingerbread houses and working on our own WIPs. 🙂 And I am especially excited to talk about this week’s WoW post because… Well, I just can’t wait for it to release!
The Red Rising trilogy wormed its way completely into my little heart by book 2, Golden Son. I listened to the entire series via audiobook, and it was absolutely fantastic. The ending of Morning Star had me screaming, but also raised some questions for me as well.
So when Brown announced he was extending the trilogy by 3 more books, I shouted for joy! And soon I will have the fourth book in the series, Iron Gold, in my hands!
Here’s the synopsis, which should really have you screaming because I am!
They call him father, liberator, warlord, Reaper. But he feels a boy as he falls toward the pale blue planet, his armor red, his army vast, his heart heavy. It is the tenth year of war and the thirty-second of his life.
A decade ago, Darrow was the hero of the revolution he believed would break the chains of the Society. But the Rising has shattered everything: Instead of peace and freedom, it has brought endless war. Now he must risk everything he has fought for on one last desperate mission. Darrow still believes he can save everyone, but can he save himself?
And throughout the worlds, other destinies entwine with Darrow’s to change his fate forever:
A young Red girl flees tragedy in her refugee camp and achieves for herself a new life she could never have imagined.
An ex-soldier broken by grief is forced to steal the most valuable thing in the galaxy—or pay with his life.
And Lysander au Lune, the heir in exile to the sovereign, wanders the stars with his mentor, Cassius, haunted by the loss of the world that Darrow transformed, and dreaming of what will rise from its ashes.
Red Rising was the story of the end of one universe, and Iron Gold is the story of the creation of a new one. Witness the beginning of a stunning new saga of tragedy and triumph from masterly New York Times bestselling author Pierce Brown.
Iron Gold is expected to release on January 16, 2018 which is the day before my birthday. If that isn’t a good birthday present to myself, I don’t know what is!
There’s also a pre-order incentive so go forth and pre-order from Amazon, Barnes and Noble (which is signed!), Book Depository (U.K. paperback edition), Indie Bound, or your local bookstore! Then submit your receipt here and hoard those lovely little art prints (like I plan to do).
While I don’t think I’ll re-read the first three books, I’ll read a recap because I’d be kidding myself if there’s no reference to everything that happened. 😉
