Hellooooo! I’m incredibly behind in posting December’s wrap-up and book haul but late is better than never, right? 😉
Anyway, I only bought one book in December. Since it was Christmas, I wanted to spend money on gifts for my friends and family than spending it on myself. Surprisingly enough, I don’t get a lot (if any) books for Christmas, which is fine since I have some many on my shelves that need to be read anyway!
However, I did buy one book at the end of December! I might spoil myself a bit for January since it’s my birthday month, and I have a $5 coupon to Half-Price Books I need to use before the end of the month…
First up is the wrap-up!
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – ★★★★ 1/2
Caraval by Stephanie Garber – ★★★ 1/2
Speak Easy, Speak Love by McKelle George – ★★★
P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han – ★★★★
Three Sides of a Heart by Natalie Parker – ★★
A Treacherous Curse by Deanna Raybourn – ★★★★
Between the Blade and the Heart by Amanda Hocking (not pictured) – ★★★
5-6 books a month is average for me, so I did fairly well this month. As usual, audiobooks help immensely in keeping up with my reading goal for 2017, so Illuminae, Caraval, and P.S. I Love You were all audiobooks. Three Sides of a Heart, A Treacherous Curse, and Between the Blade and the Heart were all ARCs.
Now onto my only book purchase for December…
If you don’t know who Lindy Tsang is, she also goes by Bubz. She has both a beauty channel and a life channel on YouTube. She is the only YouTuber I watch consistently year after year, so when she talked about writing a book, I was very excited. It released the second week of December, and I found it at Barnes & Noble for less than $10. I don’t read a lot of non-fiction, but I knew I had to pick up this book.
Well, it’s the middle of January now and I’ve read 3 books so far. In terms of reading this month, it’s just been slow. I’m enjoying other hobbies like crocheting, and catching up on some of my favorite TV shows like Doctor Who. Work has also picked up lately, too, so while I usually leave the office to read somewhere, I haven’t had the time. Regardless, I know it’s not about the numbers, so I’ll keep trucking along at my own pace. 🙂
