January 2018 Wrap-Up & Book Haul!

What a fun beginning to the new year! I can’t believe January is already over! I felt like it just started!

Anyway, this was a fun month for me. I celebrated my 29th birthday by buying books! Okay, well, I bought myself one book and the rest were bought with gift cards or were given to me as gifts! And I actually surprised myself by reading my normal average number of books. I doubt I’ll do so well the rest of the months due to personal issues and a general hiatus I plan on taking (more on that in a later post).

First, the wrap-up! The top two books were from the library. The Language of Thorns is all the way at the bottom and it’s dark so you can’t really read the title. Sorry!

I may have cheated a little and finished That Inevitable Victorian Thing on January 1st, but who’s counting, right? 😅

That Inevitable Victorian Thing by E.K. Johnston – ★★★
Into the Bright Unknown by Rae Carson – ★★★
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater – ★★★ 1/2
The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo – ★★★★
American Panda by Gloria Chao – ★★★★
Iron Gold by Pierce Brown – ★★★★ 1/2

My most disappointing read was That Inevitable Victorian Thing while my most loved was Iron Gold followed closely by American Panda, which releases tomorrow!

Now for the book haul! I bought Iron Gold as a gift to myself, Turtles All the Way Down was a trade, and the rest were birthday gifts. 🙂

I’m so excited to finally have both The Dark Days Pact and Rebel Seoul to add to my personal library! I’ve also heard so many good things about City of Brass and Love, Hate, & Other Filters that I can’t wait to dive into them!

Don’t forget to leave your book haul and wrap-up links below! Also, try to remember that reading isn’t a competition! Sometimes in seems like that, especially when people are often so vocal about the number of books they read. Hence, why I’ve decided to take things slowly in the coming months, and get back to enjoying things I used to besides reading. 😛
