Will there ever be a time I stop saying “Better late than never”? Maybe…but today is not that day! 🙂
March was quite a surprise. I was on spring break, so I reread one of my favorite series. I also did a reread (re-listen via the audiobook?) of the first book in the Shatter Me series in prep for the release of Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi. I only recently started listening to Unravel Me so…my reread is going quite well… Haha. 😅
So far April isn’t looking bad either, but I’ve already DNFed a book, the first this year. I’ve got a bunch of eARCs to read, too, and I’m trying to focus on reading books from my own shelves instead of the library. Um, right.
First, here we have the wrap-up!
The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan (ARC) – ★★★★★
Ruby Red by Kerstin Geir – ★★★★
The Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty – ★★★
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi (reread) – ★★★ 1/2
The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski (reread) – ★★★★ 1/2
The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski (reread) – ★★★★★
The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski (reread) – ★★★★★
Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Geir – ★★★ 1/2
Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco – ★★★★
Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi (not pictured) – ★★★★
Rereading The Winner’s Trilogy was absolute pure joy. I rewarded myself with a reread of the first book while working on finishing some edits for my manuscript in prep for querying. It was exactly what I needed to push me through, and exactly what I needed to read in general because I missed the world, Arin, Kestrel, and all the feels SO MUCH.
Besides that, The Astonishing Color of After and Hunting Prince Dracula were two of my favorite reads this month.
Okay, for the book haul!
I just want to let you know that buying all these books was completely unintentional, I swear! Really, there was no question about me not buying Obsidio, Children of Blood and Bone, Emergency Contact, or Restore Me, as I got to see all those authors a few weeks ago at a book festival. Husband bought me The Astonishing Color of After which I had no qualms with since I read the ARC and loved it. The others were mainly bought on a whim. 😅
Anyway, I don’t think April will look as good but it’s kind of up in the air for the time being. The North Texas Teen Book Festival is the third weekend of the month and I’m going for the third year in a row. 🙂 Wish me luck (or comfort my poor wallet, I don’t know which :P)!
