WWW Wednesday is a blog meme hosted over at Taking on a World of Words. For this post, I answer the following three questions:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
This is one of my favorite blog memes, so I’m going to dive right in! 🙂
What are you currently reading?
Since I started work again about two weeks ago, I’m back to shuffling multiple books using different medias. Here’s what I have going on:
This might be crazy but yes, I’m reading three different books. The first one is an ARC I traded via Twitter called Sweet Black Waves, which is pitched as Graceling and The Mists of Avalon. I love this time period (and I loved both of those books!) and this story boasts forbidden romance so… Hi. Hey. Hello! I’m there! I’m only a few chapters in, but I have a feeling this book will break my heart!
Jade City by Fonda Lee is a break from Young Adult. (Okay, I say that as I’m reading YA at the moment but whatever, haha.) It’s incredibly descriptive with in-depth world-building. Even though it takes a bit of wading through, I’m definitely enjoying it. In just about every instance, I feel like this:
But in the best way possible. All these characters are badass.
A good friend of mine on Twitter recommended The Last Namsara to me because she said it gave her The Winner’s Trilogy vibes. Like, hello? I need that in my life. This audiobook is narrated by Pearl Mackie, who is known for her role as the 12th Doctor’s last Companion. Right away I love the narration, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. And yes, it does give off TWT vibes so… 😌
What did you recently finish?
Oh my gosh, I cannot get over The Kiss Quotient. It was so much better than I expected, and I truly didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I started this! I read it incredibly fast because it was just that good. It has the perfect mix of heartfelt story, adorable sexy times, and multi-faceted characters. Get ye to the bookstore and read this! (It’s also not YA!) You can read my review for it here.
The Girl of Fire and Thorns was a pleasant surprise. My best friend is almost done (in the middle?) of the third book. I listened to this via audiobook. It was a well-written and developed high fantasy, where religion played an extremely important role in the lives of the main characters and the story. Normally I stay away from stories where religion does play this big of a role, but I found it quite interesting to read the different way multiple characters interpreted it. You can read my review here.
I reread Warcross in prep for Wildcard. I traded another ARC for Wildcard, and I can’t wait to read it! Marie Lu is touring not far from me, and while I’ve already pre-ordered the book, I’m ecstatic to be able to read an early copy of the book and meet Marie again. Warcross is just as good as I remember it, too, which is great! Check out her book tour here!
What do you think you’ll read next?
This is easy! I’m behind on a few August ARCs, but I know for certain I’ll read Wildcard.
These are all physical books, so I’m sure it’ll just be a slow process for me to read it but… Look at how gorgeous all these covers are? See All the Stars is a YA contemporary. If You Leave Me is about a family of Korean refugees, and of course Wildcard is the final book in the Warcross duology! I don’t know what audiobooks I plan to read since they’re based on availability from my local library.
Leave your WWW posts below and I’ll check them out! 🙂
The elmo gif has me laughing so hard. Glad that you loved the Kiss Quotient. That and Sweet Black Waves are up soon in our queue and i’m terrified I will hate a book everyone else loves!

lol It’s okay if you don’t love it! Reading is totally subjective. 😛

I read The Kiss Quotient a while ago and I’m still not over it. So. Good.
