‘Waiting on’ Wednesday: October ’18 Release!

Is it just me or does October hold a lot of goodies for us book lovers? Well, I sure hope it’s not just me…

‘Waiting on’ Wednesday (WoW) is a book blog meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s really simply and easy to participate: all you have to do is feature upcoming books you’re excited about! I try to do one of these monthly (mainly as a reminder to keep an eye out for these books, LOL)!

ARC Review: “Ignite the Stars” by Maura Milan

Guys! This book! 😍 The synopsis immediately grabbed my attention; the cover reveal (Asian model!) made me yearn for this book! So when I saw it on NetGalley, I ignored my looming (physical) TBR and requested the book! It was such a pleasant surprise to know I’d been approved.

Thank you, Albert Whitman & Company, for giving me a free, digital copy in exchange for an honest review!

T5W: Books for My Younger Self

I’ve always been a reader. Well, duh, you might be thinking, but the thing is I never gave much of a thought to what I read. I picked up whatever sounded interesting. Now that I’m older, with the boom of social media and me following more bookish accounts on both Twitter and Instagram, I have become a bit…choosier with what I read. I don’t mean that in a bad way, but I often time do follow the bandwagon and read the “popular” books.

But I’ve come across some books that I really wish had been around when I was a teenager. Maybe I would have felt less awkward or…whatever if I had read them. But I’m glad I get the chance to talk about them today.

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly blog meme that started as a group on Goodreads. You can check out the rest of this month’s topics and join the group here.

Epic Reads Fall Tour: Kendare Blake, Katharine McGee, & Sara Raasch

One of my favorite things to do as a reader is to meet authors. I think we can all relate, right? Living in the U.S., I’m fortunate enough to have authors visit areas around me. I know that’s not the case with many other countries, so I try to go as many author signings as I can. Epic Reads has brought some great authors to my city. In the spring I met Julie Murphy, Becky Albertalli, and Katie Cotugno in a panel-like author visit. This time it was a round-table event, where we all sat in a circle and could talk one-on-one with the author. I like how these feel so personal.

ARC Review: “Sadie” by Courtney Summers

I’m trying to catch up on the ARCs I have backlisted, but life has really gotten in the way of my reading time. Husband and I bought a house and we’re closing this week, which means we’ll be moving throughout the next couple of weeks. I’m definitely not looking forward to the actual move, but I’m very excited to move into my house. I’ll do what I can to schedule blog posts this and next week, but it’s not a guarantee! 😛

A special thank you to Wednesday books for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: Pedophilia, detailed descriptions of self-harm-like behavior (just one scene. The narrator herself doesn’t self-harm, but there is a moment where her arm is damaged and she thinks very much like a self-harmer with intense description of all the blood on her arm).

ARC Review: “Sweet Black Waves” by Kristina Pérez

When I saw that Sweet Black Waves had forbidden romance in it, I was instantly sold. While I’m not super familiar with the Tristan and Isolde tale, I have seen the 2006 film starring James Franco and Sophia Myles. I really enjoyed it when I saw it years ago, so I went into this novel expecting my heart to be broken at some point. And the truth is… It was but in a different way.

I received this ARC through a trade. It is not a final copy.

TRIGGER WARNING: Self-harm
