Is it just me or does October hold a lot of goodies for us book lovers? Well, I sure hope it’s not just me…
‘Waiting on’ Wednesday (WoW) is a book blog meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s really simply and easy to participate: all you have to do is feature upcoming books you’re excited about! I try to do one of these monthly (mainly as a reminder to keep an eye out for these books, LOL)!
While I wasn’t a fan of Kagawa’s Talon series, I’m extremely intrigued about Shadow of the Fox. I love any story that interweaves mythology of any kind, especially non-Western mythology, and SotF already hits that nail on the head. The release date is set for October 2 (next week!), and there’s still time to send in your pre-order receipt to get some awesome swag!
On the opposite side of that is Destiny Soria’s Beneath the Citadel. I absolutely loved her debut book, Iron Cast, which is a historical fantasy set in the 1920s. But BtC sounds like a fantasy through and through. Also, that cover! ❤ What’s not to love?! Beneath the Citadel’s expected publication date is October 9!
I am fortunate enough to already have an ARC of A Very Large Expanse of Sea. Let me tell you, it’s a complete trip down memory lane for me. The book takes place in 2002, a year after 9/11. I see little bits of my young, teenage years throughout this book. And then I have this rising anger about how horrible the main character is treated. I won’t say much more, but I will say that it’s also adorable, and I love seeing Shirin blossom. AVLEoS is scheduled to release on October 16.
I have a soft spot for historical fiction, and I really think Virginia Boecker’s An Assassin’s Guide to Love and Treason will fill the void I know Allison Goodman’s The Dark Days Club trilogy will leave in my heart. (Yes, I know the 3rd book doesn’t release until November!) Not only does AAGtLaT take place during the reign of one of my favorite British monarchs, it sounds like a general good yet thrilling read. And…perhaps some romance too? I can only hope. 🙂 An Assassin’s Guide to Love and Treason is set to release on October 23!
I know you might be thinking, “Nicole, what about Kingdom of Ash?” I feel like it’s obvious I’m thrilled of that book, but I can see it’s already extremely hyped and all abuzz in the book community so… Yeah. 🙂 Yes, I’m excited, but I don’t think I necessarily want to give it a big feature.
What books are you looking forward to in October?
