Wow, how is it already November? I felt like these last few weeks have gone by so so so quickly–almost like I don’t have a moment to stop and breathe. Well, I know this isn’t a book review or anything book-related, but that’s only because I wanted to update y’all on my life! I mean, people care about that, right? Or do y’all just want everything book-related? Well… too late!
First things first, Husband and I bought a house! Well, we bought it in September, and have been living in it for the past 5 weeks or so. It’s been an experience, let me tell you! I had no idea how much I needed now that I’m living in a house. Husband and I have lived in apartments ever since we’ve been married, and we didn’t have the need to do a lot of maintenance. But now I need a broom to sweep the dead leaves off my front porch, and a pair of trimmers to trim the bushes in my backyard! Also, apparently we need a lawn mower and weed eater… Whatever.
One of my favorite parts about my new house is the built-in bookshelves in the living room. My bookshelves were already bursting out of the seams, but having these built-ins have really helped me make my book space seem not so cluttered. And because these particular shelves are in the living room, I decided to put all of my signed books on the shelves! Let me show you…

Not all of these books are signed (like the Throne of Glass series or everything in The Winner’s Trilogy, but I wanted to include them anyway.
This picture is a few weeks old, but not too much has changed. When I met Laini Taylor, I added the U.S. editions of Strange the Dreamer. Kingdom of Ash released two weeks ago, so of course I added that to finish off the series. (I’m also in the middle of reading KoA and wow! I’ll try to post a full review on my blog once I finish because… I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this book.)
Besides buying a house, I also started a new job! I’ve been there for about two weeks now. I was sad to leave my previous job, but due to these other changes in my life, I figured it was time to start something new as well. Financially, I knew it was the right decision, and I’m glad I was able to make the transition.
As for what I’m currently reading… The answer is: a lot!
I’ve only got a few chapters left in Grace and Fury and I’m just not quite sure how I feel about it. I mean, I like the concept but the execution…could be better. Look out for a review here or on Goodreads (hopefully both if I have the time! 😛 )!
Of course I, along with hundreds of others, are reading the final book in the Throne of Glass series. This book is a behemoth! I purchased two copies: the Barnes and Noble edition which has a poster as the dust jacket and select notes from Sarah’s writing journal, and also the Books-A-Million edition, which has fan art on the end pages. With something like this, I combined these two editions simply by putting the dust jacket from the B&N edition onto the BAM edition. My plan is to give my 2nd copy to my best friend who’s in the middle of reading Empire of Storms.
I finished this amazing book a few weeks ago, and I’m sad I haven’t had the time to sit down and write a full review. But the day the book released, I immediately bought the Target edition (which has chapters from Ocean’s POV as the bonus content). It’s a raw, honest, and powerful book. I can’t remember the last time I experienced so much second-hand anger for a main character! I really enjoyed reading something different from Mafi, since she’s so known for her Shatter Me series. Her words are always so poetic!
So I realize I have 3 “news” in the title of this blog, but I don’t think there’s a third new “big” new thing. 🤣
November starts NaNoWriMo, and since I’m seriously lacking motivation to write, I’m going to try to focus on finishing up a untitled YA fantasy WIP. If you follow me on Twitter, you might see me talk about it briefly. (If you’re super curious, I made a Pinterest board for it!) This is actually a story I finished for NaNoWriMo back in 2009, but nearly everything has been revamped except for a few character names and some minor plot points.
So there’s that. I hope y’all don’t mind this post. I haven’t been focusing on blogging very much since all I really wanted to do is read when I come home from work. (Though I will say that with the release of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, gaming has been getting in the way of reading… Hehe. 😅) But I do hope y’all have been doing well, and let me know what you’re reading!
