Happy New Year! It’s officially 2019! How wild!
I always feel nostalgic looking back at the previous year, even more so since I feel like a lot happened in my personal life, too. Husband and I bought a house, I got a new job, I became an aunt for the third time (but my first nephew!)… So yeah. 🙂 Anyway, that’s not why y’all came here is it? To read about how sappy I am! lol
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out the topics for each week here.
It was hard to choose, but I picked the books I rated 4 stars or higher on Goodreads (though truthfully, most of these are 4.5 or 5 star books).
Let’s start with a few standalones:
I fell in love with these books from the get-go, and of course I rank them as some of my favorite contemporaries. Each book taught me something as each dealt with things I have or have not experienced before, but I felt the deepest connection with The Astonishing Color of After. I think everyone should read The Hate U Give. I absolutely cannot wait for Thomas’s sophomore novel, On the Come Up!
My favorite series finales this year:
These three books had me on the edge of my seat! I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the conclusion of A Court of Thorns and Roses series, but I found myself totally engrossed in ACoWaR. To be honest, I think it’s a better conclusion than Kingdom of Ash but shhhh, you didn’t hear that from me!
As for Obsidio, thinking back on this books makes me happy. I had the opportunity to meet Amie and Jay who were on tour for this book. The Illuminae Files was one of those hyped series I wasn’t sure I would love, but I think I did myself a favor by listening to the audiobook. It was brilliant and beautiful, and Obsidio was a great conclusion! All the feels!
And of course Wildcard had to be included in this list. That plot twist! The ending! 😮
My favorite books in a continuing series:
Yep. Both these books killed me. The end. 🙂
And last but certainly not least…
I don’t read many “strictly” romance books but this one had me swooning from the break of dawn! I devoured this book and don’t regret it one bit! I can’t wait for Hoang’s The Bride Test, which is a companion novel (though not about Stella and Michael). This is also my weekly reminder to read more romance books, if only to find out if they’re like this one, haha!

From your favorites I read THUG, The Kiss Quotient and Obsidio this year and loved the three, so those are some good choices 😜
