Well… My December book haul grew quicker than I thought it could… Without me even realizing it! Typical! With my own birthday to celebrate this month, I think I may go a little wild with books. I always view my birthday month as an entire “treat yo self” thing, which makes things… worse? Better? lol Not quite sure yet!
This month was a slow reading month for me. I feel like I keep saying this but it’s so true. While I still enjoy reading, not blogging and not focusing on my bookstagram as much has decreased my raging need to read everything in sight. Of course, I’m not saying that’s a bad thing but I do have a goal to spend more time doing other things besides reading. Actually, my Goodreads goal for 2019 is to read 50 books, which is way lower than 2018’s goal of 80!
Anyway, onto the wrap-up!
Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard (reread) – ★★★ 1/2
Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi (audiobook) – ★★★ 1/2
Phoenix Unbound by Grace Draven – ★★★★
Heartstone by Elle Katherine White – ★★★★
Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean (eARC – not pictured) – ★★ 1/2
My favorite books I read in December were definitely Phoenix Unbound and Heartstone. I took a break from YA to full engross myself in these fantasy books and I loved every minute of it! I reread GS, so I could dive into King’s Cage in the next few months.
As for the book haul…
Look at how massive Queen of Air and Darkness is! Gees! 😱 For a Muse of Fire and Daughter of the Siren Queen were both gifts from book secret Santas! 🥰 The rest were just random purchases or ones I made because I had gift cards. I was super excited to find Shades of Milk and Honey and the second book in that series, Glamour and Glass. These are historical fantasies set in Regency England but with magic! I’ve been looking for them at almost every used book shop and finally found them! *cheers*
How was December for you? I hope you enjoyed the holidays even if you didn’t celebrate! As for me, I was able to see most of my family with little stress (which is always a relief, let me tell you).
Happy Birthday Nicole! 🥳 I’m waiting for Heartstone to come. Glamour and Glass & Shades of Milk and Honey sound like fun – historical fantasies. I think you have some awesome books to read. Hope your holidays were awesome! ❤️❤️

Thank you, Dani! 🙂 Heartstone was super enjoyable and I loved reading the parallels with P&P. I have a soft spot for historical fantasies, so I really hope those two are good reads! 🙂
