‘Waiting on’ Wednesday (WoW) is a book blog meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s really easy to participate: all you have to do is feature upcoming books you’re excited about! It doesn’t necessarily have to be for the next month–it can be any book–but I try to keep it simple because… You know, there are just so many books that release even in a single month. And to think I just feature some of my favorite YA ones…
Somehow, nearly all of the books I’m excited for in February release on the 5th. Can I make those late birthday presents to myself? LOL
I realize these are all rather different genres. I’ve always kept an eye on Dark of the West, ever since I saw The Winner’s Curse as a comp title (and y’all know how much I LOVE that book). I won an ARC from a giveaway hosted by the author and now that the release date is soon, I’ll be reading that as soon as I finish one of my other physical reads.
I also have an ARC of Courting Darkness (assassin nuns!) and an eARC of Enchantée. It looks like I’m already creating my TBR as I write this… I enjoyed Thomas’s debut (who hasn’t?!) so I hope On the Come Up is just as an exciting and thought-provoking read.
Also, if you pre-order Courting Darkness you can submit your receipt here for some goodies! (I know it says the first 300, but I’m fairly certain it’s been extended “until supplies last.) The same thing with Enchantée–submit your receipt here!
First off, hello, THIS COVER! Second of all, this synopsis:
I had a sister, once…
In a world ruled by fierce warrior queens, a grand empire was built upon the backs of Phoenix Riders—legendary heroes who soared through the sky on wings of fire—until a war between two sisters ripped it all apart.
I promised her the throne would not come between us.
Sixteen years later, Veronyka is a war orphan who dreams of becoming a Phoenix Rider from the stories of old. After a shocking betrayal from her controlling sister, Veronyka strikes out alone to find the Riders—even if that means disguising herself as a boy to join their ranks.
But it is a fact of life that one must kill or be killed. Rule or be ruled.
Just as Veronyka finally feels like she belongs, her sister turns up and reveals a tangled web of lies between them that will change everything. And meanwhile, the new empire has learned of the Riders’ return and intends to destroy them once and for all.
Sometimes the title of queen is given. Sometimes it must be taken.
Crown of Feathers releases on February 12!
Lastly, look at this gorgeous and FIERCE book! Next, add it to your TBR because queens! Dragons! Not to mention Samantha Shannon wrote the amazing The Bone Season series! I’ve seen pictures of this book and it’s crazy thick! If you’re looking for some kind of special editions, all I know is that Waterstones (in the U.K.) have signed editions. I’ve never ordered a book from there, so I can’t give you an accurate experience of how the items ship. But what I can tell you is there still time to submit your pre-order receipt and received a signed poster. The best thing about this is that it’s open to the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand!
If you’re looking for something special, Fox & Wit is doing a mini-box. For the price of the book, you’ll receive a wood bookmark and an enamel pin. Check out the details here!
The Priory of the Orange Tree releases on February 26!
