WWW Wednesday #11

WWW Wednesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. In this post I will answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

This is one of my favorite posts to write, so let’s just get started!

  • What are you currently reading?

I was #blessed with an ARC of one of my most anticipated releases of 2019–Dark of the West by debut author Joanna Hathaway. It released yesterday, but I figure I ought to finish reading the book before I decide if I want to buy a finished copy. If you enjoy historical fiction with beautiful, descriptive, and informative prose, this is the book for you. I admit that sometimes it can seem a bit heavy, but I’m enjoying the book so far. It’s not what I thought it would be, but it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t protect Athan and Aurelia if I could!

While I’m waiting for all those audiobooks from the library, I checked out One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake. I reread the first book a few months ago in anticipation for the release of the third book. However, I’m only on book 2, and liking it so far. I forget how dark this book is, and there’s some intrigue going on that really makes me raise my eyebrows. 👀

Technically, I haven’t started Enchantée yet, but I’m excited to. This book also released yesterday, but I’ve had an eARC sitting on my e-reader for a while that I’m finally getting around to. (I feel like a bad book blogger when I say this. 😅) I love historical fiction and that fact that this book takes place during the decadent times of the French Revolution and has magic–I’m sold! Also, that cover! 😍

  • What did you recently finish reading?

I’m still trying to gather my thoughts about White Stag (but my goal is to have a review up by tomorrow, so I’m currently working on one). I read this as an eARC and wonder how different the finished copy is. This book is definitely dark and deserves to have a few trigger warnings for those who are diving into it.

You can read my review of Leah on the Offbeat here. It was a quick, easy read and while I enjoyed it, I didn’t really care much for the main character.

  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Since I received an ARC of this book’s sequel, The City of Brass is definitely on the top of my list! I’ve heard nothing but good things, and it really fits the bill for my goal to read outside of my usual YA. 😛

And since King of Scars release last week, I feel like everyone and their mom is reading this book so I might as well jump on that bandwagon! Truthfully, I’m excited to return to the Grishaverse, and can’t wait to see what Leigh has in store for our characters. I can tell you for sure that I’m preparing my heart for some serious feels!
