WWW Wednesday #12

WWW Wednesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. In this post I will answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

This is me when I realized I have a lot of ARCs (digital and physical) that I need to read:

stressed usagi

But really, what’s new? HAHA. But I’ve learned not to feel bad about it, so at least that’s an improvement?

What are you currently reading?

I was eager to dive into all of these, and so far, they haven’t disappointed.

A Dangerous Collaboration is the fourth book in the Veronica Speedwell novels featuring a rather independent young Victorian woman who studies butterflies and solving mysteries. This series has been an absolute joy to read from since book 1, and I’ve been fortunate enough to receive eARCs of the following three books. And that brings me to the fourth book which just released yesterday! Happy belated book birthday!

I’m listening to Two Dark Reigns via audiobook. Initially, I liked the first book, Three Dark Crowns, but when I reread it, I liked it a lot more. The second book was really good, so I’m hoping the third doesn’t disappoint either. The cover for the fourth and final book in the series was revealed a couple of weeks ago and it’s just as haunting as the others!

Courting Darkness is the first book in a new duology that extends the world and characters of His Fair Assassins. For me, the books got better and better. While I’m only a couple of chapters in, I can’t help but be so enthralled by the characters and how mature everyone seems! This book also seems to fit the French historical fiction novels (first Enchantée, then An Affair of Poisons, now this book) I’ve been reading, as I just seem to keep going further and further back in time, lol. Courting Darkness released on February 5th, and it’s currently less than $9 on Amazon!

What did you recently finish reading?

Shadow Me is a novella from Kenji’s POV, and is considered book 4.5  in the Shatter Me series. I don’t plan on posting a full review on my blog since it was only like 80 pages long, but I did enjoy it. Kenji is one of my favorite characters, and to learn more about him, Castle, and bits of the Reestablishment as a bridge to Defy Me has been great. Personally, I’ll take more books in Kenji’s POV, please.

I recently posted by review of An Affair of Poisons earlier this week. You can check out the review here.

What do you think you’ll read next?

As I’m trying to catch up on ARCs, I’m following up my current reads with Spooner’s Sherwood, pitched as a gender-bent Robin Hood. I read Hunted and enjoyed it a lot, so I can’t wait to dive into this next book. Sky without Stars by Jessica Brody and Joanna Rendell is supposed to be a retelling of Les Misérables, a book I haven’t read. I mean, have you seen how fat that book is? I enjoy a classics to an extent, but I don’t know if I can manage to read it!

Happy reading, friends!

I really want to read the Veronica Speedwell series. I have heard nothing but amazing things about it. So I am very interested in it. I had no idea the 4th book recently came out. I can’t wait to start this series.
