Sooooo… I haven’t written one of these since January. Now that we’re halfway through the year, I figured another non-bookish life update was warranted.
*goes back to January’s post to see what needs to be updated*
First things first: I’ve updated my yearly reading goal from 50 to 75. I made it low initially because I wasn’t sure how the latter half of the year would look like. Of course, I still don’t know what the rest of 2019 will look like, but so far, I’ve made good progress and am currently ahead of schedule.
I’m still in the process of unhauling books, though. I feel like it’s a year-long thing, but I am slowly working (still) on reading the books on my shelves and not buying books as frequently. While I still love books, I think my personal focus has shifted from books to other experiences. Some family members have moved closer to where I live, so it’s easier to see and spend time with them, something I will also be doing this weekend. They’ve lived in another state for the almost 15 years and while I was able to visit, it was a bit more difficult due to the distance. Now, that’s not the case. 🙂
My blog has been going quite well, too. In January I talked about how I felt like closing down my blog last year. Fortunately, that feeling has disappeared! Yes, it’s work and time, but it’s also wonderful to read everyone’s comments. I hope y’all know it really makes me happy to see them and to interact with you all! I’m also so close to 600 followers here which is so amazing!
I also decided to do this crazy thing and promote my blog a little more on my social media such as Twitter and Instagram. Why didn’t I do this more often before? Who knows? Perhaps I felt it would be annoying to my followers, but at that point, if it is, just unfollow me, LOL. However, I do think I may take a hiatus in the coming months but I’m not exactly sure when.
I’ve been at my new job for almost 8 months now. It’s been really good, a bit of a learning experience as with most new jobs, but I feel a bit more confident, like I’m finally settling in. This new office is about 1/3 of the size of my previous one.
Previously I talked about how I was going to be able to visit my mother’s side of the family in South Korea this year, but unfortunately, things haven’t worked out well and I’m not going. But the plan is to go next year, so I’m really crossing my fingers everything works out this time next year.
In terms of writing and querying, I’m sad to say I haven’t made much progress in the querying department. I’ve thought about making adjustments to my query letter but I haven’t been really motivated. But in the writing aspect, I just started revising the first draft of a book I wrote for NaNoWriMo last year. I forgot how wonderful (and scary!) it is to see all the words you’ve written about a story close to your heart. It’s a good feeling. (If you ever want to get a feel of what I’m querying or writing, I’ve got Pinterest boards for both!)
*tries not to talk about books*
Okay, well… That’s it then. LOL I hope I didn’t bore you. And let me know if you like these posts or if they’re too boring! Hopefully I’ll post a life update again before another 6 months passes and by then it’s basically 2020. 😱
