Okay, yes, hello. I am one day late writing this and it’s Wednesday and books already came out yesterday but if you think I’m not including some of them, you’re wrong!
‘Waiting on’ Wednesday (WoW) is a book blog meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s really easy to participate: all you have to do is feature upcoming books you’re excited about–it doesn’t necessarily have to release the next month. But for my own sanity, I try to feature books month-by-month.
Yes, I can’t believe we have another book in the Legend trilogy but look at how BEAUTIFUL Rebel is! The Good Luck Girls have two amazing comp titles, Westworld and The Handmaid’s Tale so I just… *grabby hands*
Is it considered cheating if I’ve already read The Fountains of Silence? (Asking for a friend… That friend is me.) I posted my review for it yesterday, which you can check out here.
I think I may have a love/hate relationship with Renee Ahdieh’s books. I never liked The Wrath and the Dawn enough to continue with the series. While I rated Flame in the Mist and its sequel highly, I wasn’t completely enthralled. Now The Beautiful really sounds right up my alley–historical fantasy because we’re bringing back…VAMPIRES. That’s right!
Anyway, I’m pretty sure there’s still time to submit your pre-order receipt and get an enamel pin.
And yessssss, I am SO READY for Leigh’s debut adult novel! It’s gonna be dark and creepy, and I’m HERE FOR IT. There’s also still time to submit your pre-order receipt to get a gorgeous art print! I can’t wait to see how it ties in with the book.
I recently started an eARC of Fireborne and though I’m not too far into it, I’m really intrigued by it. I’m not one to pounce on books about dragons but the main reason I became interested is because it has Red Rising as a comp title and that series is one of my favorites.
I absolutely adored Chao’s first book, American Panda, and I just can’t wait to read Our Wayward Fate. I want to include the synopsis here because it really is everything:
Seventeen-year-old Ali Chu knows that as the only Asian person at her school in middle-of-nowhere Indiana, she must be bland as white toast to survive. This means swapping her congee lunch for PB&Js, ignoring the clueless racism from her classmates and teachers, and keeping her mouth shut when people wrongly call her Allie instead of her actual name, Ah-lee, after the mountain in Taiwan.
Her autopilot existence is disrupted when she finds out that Chase Yu, the new kid in school, is also Taiwanese. Despite some initial resistance due to the they belong together whispers, Ali and Chase soon spark a chemistry rooted in competitive martial arts, joking in two languages, and, most importantly, pushing back against the discrimination they face.
But when Ali’s mom finds out about the relationship, she forces Ali to end it. As Ali covertly digs into the why behind her mother’s disapproval, she uncovers secrets about her family and Chase that force her to question everything she thought she knew about life, love, and her unknowable future.
I have also ARCs for these books and I can’t wait to dive in! Both sounds so amazing, and I added them immediately to my TBR when I heard about them.
Please pray for me and my book buying ban. I’ve got a few personal things to take care before I can think about buying books again. Fortunately, there’s an amazing library system where I love, so it looks like I’m going to have a lot of books on the hold shelf!
What books are you looking forward to?
