Well, I said I wasn’t going to write a 2019 wrap-up post since my favorite and disappointing books are obviously very subjective. But I wanted to get it on the fun since I had some time to write, and I’m determined to start the new year off well here on my blog. 🙂
I also decided to specifically talk about Young Adult books. I’ve read a fair amount of new adult and romance books this year, but not enough to warrant a completely different blog post. 😛
Favorite Reads of 2019
First up, I gathered a list of all of my favorite books I read in 2019. These are all books I rated 4.5 or 5 stars!
At first, I thought to myself, “Wow, I’ve been so picky with my ratings lately!” but it’s quite true! When I rate a book 4 stars or higher and I don’t own the book, I immediately what to go out a buy it for my shelves. But the thing is I don’t have room on my shelves. So some of these books had been sitting on my shelves for a bit before I finally got to them. There’s such a lovely feeling reading a book on your shelf and enjoying it, then knowing it will have a permanent place on the shelf!
Disappointing Reads of 2019
I did not compile and get a fancy picture for my most disappointing reads for 2019 (mostly because the ones I owned but didn’t like, I ended up unhauling). And by “disappointing” I mean they did not live up to the hype or I simply rated them low.
Trust me, I am just as surprised when it comes to my disappointment toward these books as you are. Sometimes the hype really gets me and I expect something great and amazing, but it oftentimes seems to fall flat. Again, this goes with the whole “reading is subjective” thing.
Goodreads Reading Goal for 2020
My goal for 2019 was to read 100 books. I didn’t get there. I read 97. I was really close! So for 2020, I set my Goodreads goal to 100. Who knows, I may reach it this year! You never know! I’m already in the middle of two books that I may be able to finish by the end of the week. But I return to work tomorrow after having a holiday break of 1.5 weeks!
I hope y’all had a productive reading year for 2019. Tell me what your goals are for 2020! Want to read more or less? More e-books or audiobooks? Trying to get through your TBR? I’d love to know!
Happy New Year! Goodluck on your reading challenge for this year! ☺️

I guess it’s good I skipped Courting Darkness then. This Adventure Ends is my least favorite Emma Mills’ book, but I did adore Frank Sanger. He needs his own book. Thanks for sharing!
