WWW Wednesday #20

WWW Wednesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. In this post I will answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

My first WWW Wednesday post of the year! Hurrah! 🥳

What are you currently reading?

Loveboat, TaipeiI picked up an ARC of this at my local indie bookstore, and while the ARC says the book releases in February, it turns out the book released on January 7! So I’m scrambling to read this in a decent amount of time.

I’m around 200 pages in but I like it so far. It explores what it means to be Chinese-American and wanting to break away from what your parents want you to be in order to follow your own dreams. I’m interested to see how the rest of the story plays out.

Here’s a synopsis if you’re interested:

“Our cousins have done this program,” Sophie whispers. “Best kept secret. Zerosupervision.

And just like that, Ever Wong’s summer takes an unexpected turnGone is Chien Tan, the strict educational program in Taiwan that Ever was expecting. In its place, she finds Loveboat: a summer-long free-for-all where hookups abound, adults turn a blind eye, snake-blood sake flows abundantly, and the nightlife runs nonstop.

But not every student is quite what they seem:

Ever is working toward becoming a doctor but nurses a secret passion for dance.

Rick Woo is the Yale-bound child prodigy bane of Ever’s existence whose perfection hides a secret.

Boy-crazy, fashion-obsessed Sophie Ha turns out to have more to her than meets the eye.

And under sexy Xavier Yeh’s shell is buried a shameful truth he’ll never admit.

When these students’ lives collide, it’s guaranteed to be a summer Ever will never forget.

What did you recently finish reading?

I won an ARC of Diamond City from a Goodreads giveaway. For me, this book was just…okay. I definitely think it was just me and not the book having problems, lol. I’ll be posting a full review of it on my blog tomorrow (hopefully!).

I’ve had These Broken Stars on my shelves for years. When I met Amie Kaufman on the Obisidio book tour I brought the entire trilogy to be signed. And now… I listened to it on audiobook. Why is that my life story? Yes, Nicole, you have this physical book on your shelves but please, listen to the audiobook. 😛

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’ve got two audiobooks on hold at the library, so it just depends on which is available first. 😛

Temporary Wife Temptation is an eARC I requested via NetGalley. I know it definitely is the odd one out in all my YA reading updates, LOL.

I hope the first month of 2020 is treating you well so far. Let me know what you’re reading in the comments below!
