‘Waiting on’ Wednesday (WoW) is a book blog meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s really easy to participate: all you have to do is feature upcoming books you’re excited about–it doesn’t necessarily have to release the next month. But for my own sanity, I try to feature books month-by-month.
Okay, so I thought I had written a WoW post for July but apparently… I did not. So now that we’re half-way through the month, I’m just gonna combine it with August to make things easier, LOL. Oops!
Released on July 7:
I am super in love with the covers of this series. I read Spin the Dawn as a ARC a little over a year ago. I was so entranced with the story–the world-building, the non-Western setting. I can’t wait to see what this book has in store for our main character, Maia, especially after the ending of the first book (look at her right hand on the cover!).
Speaking of gorgeous covers, Splinters of Scarlet is beautiful!
I’m currently reading an ARC of More Than Maybe (my review will be up next week as part of the blog tour!) and it’s wonderful!! Teenage Nicole would have really, really enjoyed it, and I’m glad Adult Nicole is currently loving it.
Now to August!
Hello to more gorgeous covers!! 😍😍 I’m really crossing my fingers that both of these are great. I didn’t care for Raasch’s Snow Like Ashes series and have never read anything by Kristen Simmons. As for Seven Devils, I’ve never read anything by Laura Lam but adored May’s The Falconer trilogy.
This!! Cover!! It has to be my favorite I’ve seen in a while. If you’ve been snooping around, you might have guessed this book will be included in a certain fantasy book box. 👀
*sits and stares for a long time*
Anyway, I thought I’d share the synopsis of this one:
“This gorgeously imagined YA debut blends shades of Neil Gaiman’s Stardust and a breathtaking landscape of Hindu mythology into a radiant contemporary fantasy.
The daughter of a star and a mortal, Sheetal is used to keeping secrets. Pretending to be “normal.” But when an accidental flare of her starfire puts her human father in the hospital, Sheetal needs a full star’s help to heal him. A star like her mother, who returned to the sky long ago.
Sheetal’s quest to save her father will take her to a celestial court of shining wonders and dark shadows, where she must take the stage as her family’s champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of the heavens–and win, or risk never returning to Earth at all.
Brimming with celestial intrigue, this sparkling YA debut is perfect for fans of Roshani Chokshi and Laini Taylor.”
Okay, can we take a moment to appreciate the Korean writing on VS and the intricate details on TNV? Seriously! Vicious Spirits is the sequel to Wicked Fox, which I LOVED. While I didn’t bother to continue with Hamilton’s series Rebel of the Sands series (lost interested unfortunately), I’m rather thrilled for this new series. I hope it’s good!
What books are you excited for in the coming months? Let me know in the comments!
