Happy August, everyone! I hope the past month has treated you well despite all the craziness in the world. For me, I’ve transitioned going back to the work full-time, so instead of working from home I’m now commuting back and forth to work. To be honest the transition has been hard, but being back into a daily routine is going well.
As always, first we have the wrap-up:
If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlane – ★★★ 1/2
A Sweet Mess by Jayci Lee (eARC) – ★★★
Imagine Me (Shatter Me #6) by Tahereh Mafi (audiobook) – ★★★
Take a Hint, Dani Brown (The Brown Sisters #2) by Talia Hibbert – ★★★★★
Hamilton: The Revolution by Lin Manuel-Miranda & Jeremy Carter – ★★★★
More Than Maybe by Erin Hahn (ARC) – ★★★★★
I’ll Be the One by Lyla Lee – ★★★★
Goddess in the Machine (Goddess in the Machine #1) (ARC) by Lora Beth Johnson – ★★★★
Burn Our Bodies Down by Rory Power (ARC) – ★★
I’m quite surprised to see that I’ve read 9 books. For some reason being back at work has made me read more, and I think that’s due to being back at work and in a routine again. I’m not complaining though.
You can see I have some obvious favorites, some average reads, and a few I didn’t really care for at all.
It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve done a book haul but this month it was only one book and it was from a book subscription box… But it still counts, right?!
If you’ve read my review of the ARC, you might be asking yourself why I got this book when I rated it low. The thing is I thought I would like this book so I ordered OwlCrate’s June box just for the exclusive edition. The box itself was wonderful, and the book was breathtakingly gorgeous. But now I just have this book I didn’t really care for. (Unfortunately, I didn’t take pictures of me unboxing the book to post on my blog, so you’ll just have to make do with a picture of the cover of the regular edition. :P)
You also might be wondering why I included this in a July haul when it’s from OwlCrate’s June box. It’s because the box shipped late (due to the pandemic). Totally understandable since OC is always on top of their game. I’ve subscribed to OwlCrate’s August box and as far as I know that’s scheduled to ship on time. August’s book haul will be larger than it has in the past few months simply because I actually bought books. I forgot how happy it makes me, lol.
I hope y’all had a great reading month. That doesn’t mean you had to read x number of books, but rather you enjoyed the book(s) you did read. Link me to your posts in the commends and I’ll be sure to check them out.
