‘Waiting on’ Wednesday: September 2020

‘Waiting on’ Wednesday (WoW) is a book blog meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s really easy to participate: all you have to do is feature upcoming books you’re excited about–it doesn’t necessarily have to release the next month. But for my own sanity, I try to feature books month-by-month.

September 1:

Um, can we talk about adorable this cover is?! And the synsopsis! I’m definitely sharing this one with y’all!

“Shoshanna Greenberg loves working at Once Upon, her favorite local bookstore. And with her moms fighting at home and her beloved car teetering on the brink of death, the store has become a welcome escape.

When her boss announces a holiday bonus to the person who sells the most books, Shoshanna sees an opportunity to at least fix her car, if none of her other problems. The only person standing in her way? New hire Jake Kaplan.

Jake is an affront to everything Shoshanna stands for. He doesn’t even read! But somehow his sales start to rival hers. Jake may be cute (really cute), and he may be an eligible Jewish single (hard to find south of Atlanta), but he’s also the enemy, and Shoshanna is ready to take him down.

But as the competition intensifies, Jake and Shoshanna grow closer and realize they might be more on the same page than either expects…”

It’s also described as To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before meets You’ve Got Mail and I’m totally here for that!!

September 8:

I really enjoyed Kaufman’s and Spooner’s Starbound trilogy (though I didn’t care much for their Unearthed duology). I also enjoyed the Aurora Cycle series she’s done with Jay Kristoff, along with Spooner’s standalone novels such as Hunted, which is a Beauty and the Beast retelling. Needless to say I’m eager to see what the duo have in store for their readers come next month! I mean, it sounds amazing and I’m absolutely in love with the cover!

If you haven’t done so yet, you can pre-order your copy and submit your receipt for some goodies and a chance to win a virtual visit with the authors! Click here for all the details and be sure to choose the right form depending on where you live.

September 15:

Legendborn is a loose King Arthur retelling. And of course I can’t NOT support a book like K-Pop Confidential!! There’s a pre-order campaign for the latter book so if you’ve already pre-ordered you can submit you receipt here for a cool face mask!

September 22:

Oh my gosh, can I even begin to describe my excitement for this book? I adored The Gilded Wolves from the get-go. I actually won an ARC of its sequel last year (wayyyyyy before the pandemic started). I plan to re-read TGW before I head into TSS because I wanted everything (the pain!) fresh on my mind. I remember some of the major things, but I know the smaller details are lost.

I also had the chance to meet Roshani earlier this year at the North Texas Teen Book Festival to get my copy of TGW signed! It was a wonderful experience and Roshani is incredibly nice! I have this deep fear if people don’t start taking the pandemic seriously (hello, USA!!!!!!!) then things like in-person book tours will be a thing of the past and I just can’t have that. (Yes, this is me asking you to wear a mask, wash your hands, and take all the precautions!)

September 29:

I’m always hype for a new Marie Lu novel! I love the colors on the cover as well. You can submit your pre-order receipt here.

Crownchasers has comp titled like The Hunter Games, Three Dark Crowns, and Aurora. I like…all those things so of course I added this book to my TBR. 😛 If you decide to pre-order, you get some cool goodies! This pre-order campaign is international as well, and there are some extra goodies if you pre-order from the indie listed on the author’s website.

What books are you excited for next month? Let me know in the comments
