August ’20 Wrap-up and Book Haul!

I meant to post this last week but alas, work became busy and I didn’t want to do anything when I came home but become a couch potato. 😎

I think August was a pretty good month in terms of reading. The book haul wasn’t too bad either! And yes, I did actually buy books this month, lol!

First, the wrap-up!

If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha – β˜…β˜…
Vicious Spirits (Wicked Fox #2) by Kat Cho (eARC) – β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…
You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria – β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…
Iron Gold (Red Rising #4) by Pierce Brown (audiobook, reread) – β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… 1/2
The Betrothed (The Betrothed #1) by Kiera Cass – β˜…β˜…
Mr. Malcolm’s List by Suzanne Allain – β˜…β˜… 1/2
The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson – β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…
The Gilded Wolves (The Gilded Wolves #1) by Roshani Chokshi (audiobook, reread) – β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… 1/2

This month I finally decided to reread Iron Gold and The Gilded Wolves. I realized that I remembered not a lot about IG, and since I haven’t read Dark Age, I wanted to go in with the events fresh on my mind. Same for TGW. I recently finish the physical ARC I had of its sequel, The Silvered Serpents, and boy, oh boy, do I have some thoughts. Hopefully that review will be posted next week, so if you’re interested, keep an eye out! πŸ™‚

My most disappointing read for August was The Betrothed. I think I expected so much more, but so much of it fell flat. 😦 The Year of the Witching was a lovely surprise, dark and spooky yet hopeful.

Also, what do you know, we have a book haul this month!

I borrowed I’ll Be the One from the library and really enjoyed it, and of course I have to support Korean-American authors! I read an eARC of Incendiary and instantly fell in love with it, so I’m so excited to finally have a finished copy!

Star Daughter came in a book box, and I’m over the moon excited to read that from the cover alone. A finished copy of Vicious Spirits was kindly send to me by the publisher, so a special shout out to PenguinTeen for doing so!

How was August for you? I hope you read some enjoyable books, and feel free to let me know your favorite one in the comments!
