Top 10 Tuesday: Places in Books I’d Love to (and not!) Live

A weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

I’m really falling off the blog train here, but I wanted to post this week’s T10T post because I really like this topic. But I’m also doing a twist and mentioning some I know I would absolutely never survive in. 🙃

Despite how ~controversial~ this may be, I’m going to choose Hogwarts and the entire wizarding world in Harry Potter. These books are pure nostalgia for me. I remember my older brother receiving the books for Christmas and I stole them from him so I could read it. Also, do you remember when midnight release parties for books were still a thing? I went to the one for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I remember staying up ALL night to read that book and crying when Sirius died.

(Please leave your opinions regarding the author and her TERF self out of the comments. Thank you.)

Because the gamer girl in me simply loved the premise of Warcross and its sequel Wildcard, the idea of living in this game world would be so freakin’ cool.

Yes, I am very specifically leaving out City of Bones because I didn’t care for that series as much I did TID and TDA. No, I haven’t read Chain of Gold yet but… soon!

Hm, I love the idea of urban fantasy, and the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy was so good from start to finish.

Can I just be an elf in Tolkein’s world? Seriously! 😜

Okay, I’m starting to think my desire to live in these worlds in simply because I want to be main characters in some of them, LOL. Am I the only one?

Now here’s a few I’d definitely not want to live in only because I wouldn’t make it. Let’s be serious, y’all. I have no skill whatsoever.

I think all these series are a gamble because if I popped right into one, who would I be? Definitely not anyone worth noting or with any skill. 🤪 If you’ve read the 5th book in the Red Rising series, you know that things aren’t quite what we’d hope they be. The final book in The Hunger Games series has some hope though, so that might be okay but during, omg, I’d be useless during an actual Hunger Game. I don’t think I’m as strong as Laia or Helene to survive the world Sabaa created. I don’t think I could ever make it to be a Mask and if I did, I think I’d be too much of a softie.

While Red Queen isn’t necessarily a series I enjoy (the books went downhill, tbh), it’s another world that I don’t think I would make it, especially since the events played out the way they did. I always think I’ll be the downtrodden one, with no hope of anything happening to me, but if I suddenly had powers the way Mare did, I’d be arrested. Why do I think of worst case scenarios? LOL

Happy reading! If you wrote a T10T post, leave the link in the comments and I’ll be sure to check it out!
