Favorite and Disappointing YA Books of 2019 (+ 2020 Reading Goal)

Well, I said I wasn’t going to write a 2019 wrap-up post since my favorite and disappointing books are obviously very subjective. But I wanted to get it on the fun since I had some time to write, and I’m determined to start the new year off well here on my blog. 🙂

I also decided to specifically talk about Young Adult books. I’ve read a fair amount of new adult and romance books this year, but not enough to warrant a completely different blog post. 😛

My Top (Contemporary) Reads of 2017!

Is it that time already? I can’t even believe it! I feel like 2017 just started and here we are, diving right into 2018! (But that also means my birthday is soon. I’ll be 29! That doesn’t seem old to me and yet…it does, haha.)

I know this topic was a Top Ten Tuesday post a couple of weeks ago. But I wanted to wait to do it because it wasn’t quite the end of the year… But here I am, writing it just as 2018 started. Typical me. I wait until the last minute because who knows if a late December read will be included in this list?!

Anyway, here’s how I chose my top reads. I went to Goodreads and chose the books I rated 4.5 and 5 stars. That doesn’t mean they were all released in 2017–just that I read them this year. 🙂 There was actually quite a lot, so I thought I’d focus this post on the genre: today’s is contemporary.

Also, my goal was to read 90 books this year, and I surpassed it by a handful of books! Yay! I only DNFed 3 books this year, too.

Favorite Reads of 2016…so far! (Part 1)

Well, we’re halfway through 2016 (can you believe it?!) so I thought I’d take some time to reflect/fangirl/squee over some of my favorite reads of this year. My goal this year is 65 books and I’m already 69% done, meaning I’ve read 45 books! What?! I’ll be sure to set my goal higher next year… 😉

I knew this was going to be fun but little did I know how stressful it would be also because…I mean, I’ve read some great books so far but how to just pick a few?! Decisions, decisions!

To pick a favorite, I had to have fallen head over heels in love with the book–with nearly everything about it, from its characters, the world building, writing, concept, articulation, etc. Needless to say, there were some touch decisions to make but…I did it! Hooray! I rated these book 4+ stars on Goodreads if that helps you at all about whether you should read the below books… 😀

(I ended up splitting this into two posts because man, I rated a fair amount of books at 4 or more stars. Haha.)
