Review: “Linger” by Maggie Stiefvater

Well, I think I’m going to set this series aside for the time being. Linger was a bit harder to swallow than Shiver, so I’m unsure how to approach the third book, Forever.

While I enjoyed the new PoVs, I think there was handful of…questionable content and heavy topics, too. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but I’m glad I’m reading it now than say…12 years ago. With that being said, this book deserves at least two trigger warnings, 1) talk of suicide and 2) is a bit harder to define without spoilers, but as a fully recovered self-harmer, I’m going to tag this with self-harm content, despite the said injuries not being self-inflicted, but rather an area of the body self-harmers may use.

Review: “Shiver” by Maggie Stiefvater

Quite frankly, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. However, I do think if I had read this when it was released back in 2009, I might have enjoyed it more! I’ve seen this compared to Twilight (which I LOVED in high school but grew out of now that I’m older), but I think Shiver has a bit more finesse in its pages.

Top 5 Wednesday: Authors I Want to Write Like

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly blog meme started on Goodreads. You can check out the group and keep an eye out for the topics here.

I find this topic broad and very subjective, obviously, so I figure I’d take a look at some of my favorite authors in a variety of genres and discuss why I like them and what I admire about them, not just their writing skills. Let’s see how this goes. 😉

1st Annual Oklahoma Teen Book Con!

I am always and forever late posting recaps of these events, but hey, something is better than nothing, right?! (Or maybe that’s what I keep telling myself? Haha.)

Anyway! Oklahoma hosted its very first teen book con (festival?!) a few weeks ago, and so of course I was crazy excited! And then even more so when Maggie Stiefvater’s book tour for All the Crooked Saints would stop at the con! Was it possible that I could meet one of my favorite authors for the second time in the same year? The answer was yes! Haha.

Review: “The Raven King” by Maggie Stiefvater

I have avoided writing a review for this book for the past few days now. It just means that the ending is truly official for me. It’s over. No more stories about the raven boys and Blue.  Alas.

I am pleased to say that I enjoyed this book. It was one of my most anticipated releases for April so when I went on summer vacation this July, I put it on my TBR because I could actually dedicate time to it. I even took it with me on my road trip to Colorado (possible post about that later). We reached Pike’s Peak together and went camping! Haha.

Spoiler-free reviews as always. 🙂

A few of my favorite things… (Part 1)

And by things, I mean books.

Also, did anyone else find themselves humming to the song from “The Sound of Music.” If not, here you go!

I’ve been struggling trying to figure out what to post about since I’m slacking when it comes to reading. Work has been busy and all I want to do when I come home is sleep. But that’s after I cook dinner, do some laundry, and take the dog out, lol.

Anyways, I decided to do a set of blog posts on some of my favorite books. I’m starting this one about some of my favorite YA book series! I’m so excited to talk about it! 😀 ❤
