Review: “Supernova” by Marissa Meyer

Hi, friends! Sorry for not posting in over two weeks! I’ve been trying to figure out if I want to continue my blog into 2021 while also deciding what kind of content to keep producing. Anyway, it’s a bit of a jumble right now but I’ll keep going for the rest of 2020!

This review may contain spoilers. Feel free to check out my reviews of the first two books:

I think I like this series more than The Lunar Chronicles. Please tell me I’m not the only one? lol

Review: “Archenemies” by Marissa Meyer

I will start off by saying this isn’t my most elegant review. (But are they really nowaways? LOL) Archenemies was really an escapist book for me during this quarantine. June has been kind of rough on my mental health, and there was just something about this superhero novel that pulled me back (even though it took me almost 3 weeks to finish the book).

Review: “Fairest” by Marissa Meyer

Well, I’m not really sure what to think of this. Do I now feel as if I needed to read this to appreciate the story more? Not really. Do I think it adds to the story? Yes, but only a little. Look, y’all know I’m a sucker for backstories so you’d think I’d be all over this but I’m not and I think it’s because Levana didn’t have to turn out the way she did at all. The truth is, she could have been the complete opposite. Continue reading

Review: “Cress” (The Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer

Look, it’s not that I don’t think this is a great series because it is. I don’t even think I can pick a favorite character, though I’m prone towards Thorne because it’s hilarious, and I think my favorite couple might just be Scarlet and Thorne because he’s dark and brooding but Cress and Thorne come in a close second because they’re just totes adorbs.

But I’m not as enamored with the series as I hoped to be. I don’t even know why! What’s wrong with me? I don’t know. There’s no excuse. That’s just how it is. #sorrynotsorry Or something like that…

Review: “Scarlet” by Marissa Meyer

I’ve managed to tackle a majority of September’s TBR thanks to my local library and their audiobooks. I listened to Cinder on audiobook a few months ago and enjoyed it, so I was excited to dive back into the Lunar Chronicles world with the next book in the series, Scarlet.

While it’s safe to say I wasn’t wholly disappointed, I didn’t like this book as much as Cinder. It’s also safe to say that I will continue to listen to the rest of the series in audiobook format because the narrator continues to do a fantastic job!

How’s Your (August) TBR?

Normally, I am extremely prepared and ready to go when it comes to posting on my blog but this weekend, I was hit with PMS and seriously, I was down for the count! I was rather productive on Saturday morning but then it started so all I did was lay in bed (or the couch), read, edit my book a bit, and then I also ended up skipping church on Sunday to…lay in bed and read. ^_^’

So you’d think I would be going a great job, getting through my TBR for August. Alas, that is not the case. I skimmed through Netgalley a few weeks ago and “wished” for a book, was approved, and so I started reading it to end up not even finishing it (or liking it). That took up a few days. Then I have an author friend who wants me to take a look at the sequel to her first book but I need to read the 1st book, so I’ve been going back and forth with that and An Ember in the Ashes.

But I have some exciting news!

Review: “Cinder” by Marissa Meyer

So this is another book series that I’ve seen everywhere on Instagram and its praises have been sung on Goodreads as well. I actually have had this book on my shelf for months but I’m weird and had to buy the entire series before I started reading it. 🙃

Well, I finally found Cress, the 3rd book in the series, to complete my collection for less than $9 at my local bookstore. Cinder was on my July TBR and I was so excited to finally get to it. I checked it out from my library as an audiobook but I didn’t listen to it as often because I wasn’t driving to and from work. I listened to about half before I had to return it and then I just picked it off my shelves.

Needless to say, I enjoyed it. 🙂 Especially when I realized that it was like Sailor Moon… Continue reading

Weekend Book Haul (Part 2)

I’m very late posting this but… Time to continue on with my book haul. If you missed part 1, you can check it out here. I bought all these books with coupons! Gosh, who doesn’t love coupons, when it comes to buying books? That hardly ever happens! XD

I broke my book buying ban a lot lately…but I have no regrets! ^______^ But now I gotta get serious because April is soon and the North Texas Teen Book Festival is less than a month away! 😀
