Review: “Furthermore” by Tahereh Mafi

Here’s the thing: I don’t read a lot of middle grade. It isn’t really my thing but I’ve come to appreciate the differences between each genre of literature, especially in age gap genres like MG, YA, and NA (I still struggle with NA a bit but that’s another story).

When Mafi released Furthermore, I was a little hesitant about it. Although it sounded wonderful, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. I’ve only read the 1st book in the “Shatter Me” series and while I enjoyed it, it’s not something I’ve made a priority on my TBR pile. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy this book but… Not as much as I hoped. I wouldn’t necessarily put it along with “overhyped books” but let’s just say I was fairly underwhemled.

ARC Review: “Second Twin” by Jaime Lee Mann

I have graciously been given the opportunity to read this entire series. I requested the first book on Netgalley and was then contacted and given the rest of the series. The fourth book in the Legend of Rhyme series was offered to me a couple months ago but with work being crazy, me being constantly tired, and having 5782472 other books on my shelf to read, it took me a lot longer to get to this book than I anticipated.

Regardless it is an excellent book in the series, and I am continually excited to read this series. Thank to Blue Moon Publishers for giving me a free digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Review: “Legend of Rhyme” series, Books 1 – 3

A few months ago, I requested a middle grade fantasy novel on Netgalley called Elora of Stone, book 1 in the Legend of Rhyme series. I was contacted a few days later by an agent who gave me access to not only book 1 but also books 2 & 3! I was so pleased at the opportunity.

I wrote all my reviews on Goodreads but since I finished the books I was given, I decided to write a full (spoiler-free) review here. I haven’t read a middle grade novel in a very long time and this series was fun and quick to read.

Also, did I mention there are unicorns?

Review: “Crystal Cadets”

I’ve recently been drawn into the comic world (oh, see what I did there? 😉 ) and I’m slowly learning to love them. It’s different reading a book and going straight to reading a comic. Things are different on various levels.

But hello, a comic with the “magical girl” genre? I am ALL over that. You know why? Because Sailor Moon. 🙂 The ultimate magical girl manga. I ate it up when I was growing up. Read all the manga, watched the entire show, movies included, and I have since gobbled up the newly released “Sailor Moon Crystal.”

Well, hats off to Netgalley, Lion Forge, and Roar Comics for granting my wish and letting me read this! I enjoyed it!
