Originally I was going to post a book haul and wrap-up, but then my mom reminded me over the weekend that Korean New Year (generally known as Lunar New Year) is today! Happy Year of the Pig! đ·Â Growing up, I didn’t celebrate Korean holidays, and only started learning about them as an adult. (My mom thinks it’s funny, but I secretly know she likes it when I remember them!)

ARC Review: “The Names They Gave Us” by Emery Lord
It’s been such a struggle to put together a coherent review of this book. I fell in love with Lord’s When We Collided, so I didn’t have any doubts about how brilliant The Names They Gave Us would be, but wow. It blew me away. I needed this book 10 years ago, but I’m so glad I have it in my hands now.
ARC Review: “Royal Bastards” by Andrew Shvarts
Thank you to NetGalley and Disney-Hyperion for giving me a free, digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book has been on my radar since I first heard about it. While I felt the synopsis gave a lot away, I’m always up for a YA fantasy, and thankfully, this book didn’t let me down.
Mini Review: “We Should All Be Feminists” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
It’s not widely known that Adichie is one of my favorite non-YA writers. I read Purple Hibiscus when I was an undergrad and fell in love. As I grew older, I devoured her other books like Americanah and Half of a Yellow Sun. All these books touch on subjects and explore cultures I know very little about, so when I read Adichie’s books, it’s a learning experience as well. We Should All Be Feminists is not an exception.

Weekend Book Haul (Part 1)
Happy Monday!
After a week of spring break, I’m back at work today. I won’t get another break until July when I’m off the entire month! Gosh, I love working for a school district. It means I get almost all of the breaks that the students get. It’s a lifesaver, really because they always seem to come at a time when you really need them. đ
Anywho, a few weeks ago, I put myself on a book buying ban to save up money for the North Texas Teen Book Festival at the end of April. Unfortunately, I broke the ban this past weekend because I got a bunch of coupons to Half-Priced Books (which has now become one of my favorite bookstores). Monday of last week through Sunday (yesterday), I received coupons, ranging from 20% – 50% off an item. I took advantage of the 40% and 50% off coupons to buy a few books that have been sitting on my “to buy” list for a long while now.
