Review: “A Court of Frost and Starlight” by Sarah J. Maas

I debated reading this before starting A Court of Silver Flames. I’m not a huge fan of novellas in general, and wasn’t sure this one contained any vital information before I started reading Nesta and Cassian’s story. Turns out… I was kind of right.

This is a relatively short review since it’s for a novella.

Review: “Kingdom of Ash” by Sarah J. Maas

I can’t believe I’m writing a review for the final Throne of Glass book. This series has swept me off of my feet, taken me to places I’ve never been, and made me fall in love with fantasy even more. Each book was an amazing journey–some of them shocking!–and such a pleasure to read.

And yet… (You saw that coming, right?) I have some mixed feelings about Kingdom of Ash. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy it because I certainly did, I simply felt like this novel fell short of my expectations and suffered from a variety of things, which I hope to explain in decent detail.

So, let’s get to it!

Review: “A Court of Wings and Ruin” by Sarah J. Maas

I’m a little late to “finishing” this series, but with the novella, A Court of Frost and Starlight, releasing on May 1, I figured the time was nigh, lol. Truthfully, I was a bit hesitant. ACoTaR isn’t my favorite series by Sarah, ToG has that spot, and due to the sexual content of this book, I always want to make sure a solid storyline exists outside of the sex. Fortunately, I see that more in ACoWaR than with the first two.

Top 5 Wednesday: Authors I Want to Write Like

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly blog meme started on Goodreads. You can check out the group and keep an eye out for the topics here.

I find this topic broad and very subjective, obviously, so I figure I’d take a look at some of my favorite authors in a variety of genres and discuss why I like them and what I admire about them, not just their writing skills. Let’s see how this goes. 😉

Review: “Tower of Dawn” by Sarah J. Maas

I was absolutely thrilled to hear we would have a novella just on Chaol. He’s one of my favorite characters from the series. And while I do have a few issues with him (mostly his prejudices), I love him above all, lol! So when Sarah announced the novella was turned into a novel, I was ecstatic!

Diving into Tower of Dawn was a bit like coming home in ways I never imagined it would be. Returning to the world of Throne of Glass and being introduced into a brand new world of the southern continent and its cultures and people… To reacquaint myself with these characters and to come out in the end as loving them more… I cannot imagine a better pleasure as a reader.

I’m going to try my hardest to keep this spoiler-free!

T5W: Books I’ve Read Because of #bookstagram

I’ve always been an avid reader, but I wasn’t much of a collector. That is, until I joined the lovely community of readers on Instagram (also commonly referred to as #bookstagram and #bookstagrammers). I joined over 2 years ago, and wow, it’s been a great way to connect with other readers and to see how seriously talented photographers fellow bibliophiles are!

Anyway, I thought this was a fun topic because there are so many books I’ve picked up since I’ve seen them on Instagram–definitely some I would have never bothered to read otherwise!

T5W is a Goodreads group. You can check out the topics or join here.

(Reread) Review: “Queen of Shadows” by Sarah J. Maas

Eeeek, am I glad that I reread this book! I mean, I knew I would love it going in, but there are certainly some things I missed. Goodness me, how could I forgot that all these characters were introduced? I read so many books each year that I suppose it’s easy to forget.

(Also, bonus fact: One year ago yesterday, I met Sarah J. Maas on the Empire of Storms book tour. You can check out that post here. 🙂 )

This review will contain spoilers. You can read my original review over on Goodreads.
