Favorite and Disappointing Books of 2020 (+ 2021 Reading Goal)

We’re basically halfway through January already. How weird. 2021 feels like an out-of-body experience, lol.

Anyway, that’s not the reason you came to my blog. 🤣 I love doing monthly wrap-ups, so an entire yearly one just sounds like loads of fun. It’s a good way for me to take a step back and really see how much I did read and enjoy in the previous year.

Top 10 Tuesday: Books I’m Thankful for This Year

A weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

Happy Tuesday, friends! It’s Thanksgiving week here in the U.S. of A and while it’s incredibly different from ones in the past, I think it’s still a good time to reflect on the past year and literally just how crazy everything has been.

I also have this strange feeling that I’ve written a post like this before but I can’t seem to find it… So I’m sorry if these books are repeats!

March ’20 Wrap-up and Book Haul!

Can I just say that March has been such a weird time? The coronavirus has affected almost everyone at this point. I’ve been telecommuting for over two weeks now. To say there aren’t perks of working from home would be a lie. I like being able to just roll out of bed and still wear by pajamas while checking my work e-mails. I’m pretty sure my dog Ollie is both happy and confused as to why I’m saying home every day, lol. But telecommuting also has its challenges. For me, that’s mainly the motivation to actually do work. But that’s another story. 😛

Anyway! March is finally behind us. Did it seem to last a really long time to you or was that just me? 😜 One of the funnest things I’ve done this month is attend the North Texas Teen Book festival, which is where a large portion of this month’s book haul comes from.

So…let’s get to it!

Mini (ARC) Reviews #4: “The Midnight Lie” and “The Kingdom of Back”

I planned to write separate reviews for these books, but… That was before I took an unintentional two week mini-hiatus… So here we are.

I’ve been so eager to read these two books since they are by two of my favorite authors. It’s Lu’s first foray into historical fantasy, and I’ve been to multiple book signings with her in the past and always asked about The Kingdom of Back, so I was very eager to read this. Fortunately, I was able to get an ARC while I was at the Oklahoma Teen Book Con back in October of last year. I also did a trade via Twitter for an ARC of The Midnight Lie so here I am, feeling eternally blessed by the book gods.

Usagi happy clapping
