Happy June, friends! I can’t believe we’re practically halfway done with the year already. It hasn’t been a blazing 100 degrees where I live so I’m not quite convinced it’s summer yet. 😛
I’ve got a few eARCs and physical ones to get through, which is a goal for June outside of reading queer books for Pride month!

Let me preface this review by saying I only managed to read two books in the Selection series. When I read the synopsis of this book, I was instantly attracted to it, mainly because I enjoy books that deal with royalty and court politics. And while this book had both it also felt…shallow, surface-level to point that there was little world-building.

June has been kind of rough on my mental health, and there was just something about this superhero novel that pulled me back (even though it took me almost 3 weeks to finish the book).

Let me just say that no one is more disappointed than I am for not liking this book. When I first heard about it, especially with a comp title like The Phantom of the Opera and Moulin Rouge, I immediately added this book to my TBR. So bless the book gods when I was sent an ARC! I planned on starting it way sooner, but then the pandemic hit and so many books’ publication dates were pushed back–this one included!
I got stuck in a bit of a mental rut and wanted to pick up a book I’d been eagerly looking forward to so Where Dreams Descend kept popping up in my head. The synopsis sounded magical and the cover is gorgeous! Sadly, this book was a complete letdown for me.
