Review: “DEV1AT3” by Jay Kristoff

Not as enjoyable as the first one, as I found myself zoning out while listening to the audiobook. I’m not sure if this is because I started this book immediately after finishing the first one and didn’t give myself enough time to process things.

This may contain spoilers for LIFEL1K3. Read at your own risk.

Review: “LIFEL1K3” by Jay Kristoff

Happy October! What a weird feeling to make to near the end of the wild year that has been and still is 2020.

Finishing LIFEL1K3 makes 70 books I’ve read so far. My goal is still 100, and according to Goodreads, I’ve 4 books behind. I told my spouse this the other day and he suggested I read some graphic novels or some shorter books, lol.

Review: “Aurora Burning” by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

**Possible SPOILERS if you haven’t read the first book, Aurora Rising.**

So that’s how it’s going to end, huh? I should know better than to believe anything else when it comes from Amie and Jay, LOL. I briefly saw people reviewing this with somewhat polarizing opinions. But the general consensus is that the ending is a cliffhanger. And it’s true. It totally is! What the heck!

Review: “Rebel” by Marie Lu

Heavens me, I can’t believe this is really the end! I was absolutely thrilled to return to the world of Legend and see what Day and June were up to. Now we also have Eden in the picture, and I found the dynamic quite interesting.

This review is long overdue! I actually finished it a couple of months ago and have been meaning to post a full review about it but… Life got in the way, along with the business of the holidays!

Review: “Nyxia” by Scott Reintgen

This sci-fi is definitely one of those “quiet YA” books–one that is good but flies under the radar of most people and drowned out by books by popular authors. To be honest, this book had been on my mind even before I met the author a few weeks ago but I finally decided to read it (okay, okay, I listened to it via audiobook but whatever!), and I enjoyed it!

ARC Review: “Sky Without Stars” by Jessica Brody & Joanna Rendell

Oh, where do I begin with this book? Such promise! Les Misérables meets The Lunar Chronicles! Did I read the former? No! Do I plan to? Definitely not. (There’s a musical for that, right?) But did I read the latter? You bet I did and I loved it! So what could go wrong? There’s a 50/50 chance this could be great or horrible.

Thanks to Simon Pulse and NetGalley for providing a free, digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

ARC Review: “Ignite the Stars” by Maura Milan

Guys! This book! 😍 The synopsis immediately grabbed my attention; the cover reveal (Asian model!) made me yearn for this book! So when I saw it on NetGalley, I ignored my looming (physical) TBR and requested the book! It was such a pleasant surprise to know I’d been approved.

Thank you, Albert Whitman & Company, for giving me a free, digital copy in exchange for an honest review!

T5W: Best Books I’ve Read (So Far) in 2018

Gosh, this means we’re actually half-way through 2018! How is that possible? I can believe it though, because it’s always 100+ degrees outside where I live. So yes, summer is NIGH and won’t disappear any time soon. 😬

To determine the best books I’ve read so far, I chose the books I rated 5 stars on Goodreads. I was going to go with 4.5 or higher, but I have more than 5 of those! But at 5 stars, there are exactly 5. Haha. The book gods are in my favor!

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly blog meme hosted over on Goodreads. You can check out the group and topics here.
