Destiny over at Howling Libraries tagged me! Please go check her blog out if you haven’t. She writes wonderful, in-depth reviews and is such a gem in the book blogging community.
I’d just like to say that I’m really bad at responding to blog posts that I’m tagged in. I struggle with it on Instagram, too. I also really suck at tagging people because I feel like I’m bothering them. So that means if you like this tag and want to participate, please feel free to do so. You can link back to me if you’d like it. 🙂
1. How long have you been blogging?
I just hit my 3rd blog anniversary this past March. Sometimes I can’t believe I’ve been going so long, but here I am!
2. At what point do you think you’ll stop blogging?
Oh, if you only knew how many times I’ve wanted to stop blogging because I got so burnt out! To be honest, I don’t really know. Life has been crazy lately and when it gets like that, I don’t stop, I just take a hiatus. It’s hard to say when I’ll stop!
3. What is the best thing about blogging?
The community! And being able to share my thoughts with those in and outside it.
4. What is the worse thing? What do you do to make it okay?
With most things, there are toxic parts. I’m a non-confrontational person and completely passive aggressive. I dislike drama, and my heart hurts when my friends are hurt or are affected by how toxic things become. There is no way to tell someone’s tone online, which can make things hurtful too. I’m not afraid to block or mute people if I feel like they are affecting my mental health and well-being.
5. How long does it take you to make/find pictures to use?
It depends on the post that I’m writing. Book reviews are always the easiest because I can easily find the book’s cover on Goodreads. I do not know how to use Photoshop or anything like that, so I try to keep things simple. Sometimes it makes me feel like I’m boring, but I try to remember that people are here for the content, not my crapping pictures, lol. Other times, I’ll take photos myself or do a simple Google search for gifs. If I’m posting a fanart of some kind, I always give credit.
6. Who is your book crush?
Um, wow. What a loaded question. There are so many actually… One that immediately comes to mind is Elias from An Ember in the Ashes. I’m still crossing my fingers Sabaa will let her Emberlings have their happily ever after.
7. What author would you like to have on your blog?
I have many favorite authors, but I’d love to have Marie Rutkoski. She wrote one of my favorite series ever, The Winner’s Trilogy, and she has a new book releasing in 2020 that takes place in the same universe as her previous series.
8. What do you wear when you write your blog posts?
LOL I mostly blog during the day, so (unfortunately) I’m hardly ever wearing pajamas.
9. How long does it take you to prepare?
It depends on the post. For book reviews, I can pretty much prepare the graphics and general layout of the post within a few minutes. It’s the actual gathering of my thoughts and putting words onto a post that can take a long time, sometimes a few hours.
10. How do you feel about the blogging community?
Every community has its “problems” that’s for sure, but overall, I feel like the book blogging community is so supportive of each other. I hope it’s not too forward to say that we’re among the unsung heroes of the book community, especially when it comes to promoting and reviewing books. I love every single person I’ve met through blogging and the fact that we can just talk about the books we love all day, every day!
11. What do you think one should do to create a successful blog?
Write what you want! I think if you’re passionate about the books you’re reading and content you’re creating, you’re successful. I know it’s hard because we often look at numbers in terms of success, but I’ve gotten so down when I focus solely on numbers which ultimately causes a burn out. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with promoting your blog if it means more people will see it, lol.
I’m not going to tag anyone, but like I said, if you want to do this, feel free to link back to me. 🙂
