This book is SO CUTE, I can’t even handle it! I was first introduced to Jen Wang’s work through In Real Life. It’s been a while since I’ve read a graphic novel, and this was the perfect one to make me reawaken my love for them. I read this graphic novel in one sitting, too, if that tells you anything. 😉

Review: “Monstress” Vol. 1 & 2 by Marjorie Liu

Oh my goodness, why have I just now discovered this lovely graphic novel? I’ve seen the single issue comics in comic book stores, and while it intrigued me, I never bothered to pick it up. But then I heard it was an East Asian-inspired, steampunk-esque, matriarchal fantasy world and hello, yes, I’m hooked.

So I decided to review volume 1 and 2 together. Truthfully, sometimes I struggle with writing a review of a single volume, especially since this is definitely a longer series. Sometimes I feel as if volume one just allows me to touch the surface of the world, while volume 2 drags me under. 😉

Reviews: “Lumberjanes, Vol. 1: Beware the Kitten Holy”; “Nimona” by Noelle Stevenson

My middle school and high school love for manga transformed into a love for graphic novels and comic books. (And my husband decided he wanted to collect all of the Captain America comics, but who am I to complain?) I haven’t read as much as I would like but I do have a few favorites (hey, another blog post idea!) and I’m putting these two at the top, especially Lumberjanes!
